BAD GIRLS GROOVE at THE SHELLEY, FUNK and SOUL ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON - July 14th 2024
July 14th sees the Bads’ second gig at The Shelley Arms under the watchful eye of their leader, Broadbridge Heath resident Roger Bolt (guitar), and you can bet it’s going to be not only Bad but Good and a whole lot of fun, so why not join them for a funky Sunday afternoon? The whole event is in support of the MNDA as a tip of the hat to Julie, Roger’s wife, who was unfortunately diagnosed with motor neuron disease in the summer of 2022.
We'll also be joined by DJ Sapphire warming up for us. DJ Sapphire is an international DJ specialising in contemporary jazz and soul. Having played at Jazz Festivals in Atlanta, Barbados, Germany and South of France. DJ Sapphire became the World’s number one DJ in contemporary jazz as a result of her YouTube show in April 2023 going viral with a record breaking 572,000 views in two months!
Over the last decade Bad Girls Groove (“The Bads”) have built an enviable reputation for their high octane vocal and visual performances both in the UK (Hard Rock Cafe, Blues Kitchens, Pizza Express Holborn, etc etc) and in Europe, particularly at the Fete de la St Louis in sunny Sete in South of France and Cork Guinness Jazz Festival. //www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtoHgw2ZaZE
The 3 lovely (and lively!) Bads upfront – Sophie, Leigh and Emily have built a repertoire of funk and soul tunes that sidestep the obvious and allows them to show off their vocal and dancing talents, fine-tuned perfect harmonies and - above all – their sheer joy and enthusiasm at performing for – and getting on down with - appreciative audiences everywhere.
The collective musical experience of this band is impressive and includes the super talented Italian Alberto Manuzzi on keyboards and Trev Boxall our magical bass dude who pretty much lives at Ronnie Scotts. On drums we have Jono Helsby and on tenor sax the boy wonder that is Harry Toulson.
The Bads’ musical mission is, now and forever to ………entertain you, play the groove, the whole groove and nothing but the groove and in short to…….ROCK THE JOINT !!
